Welcome to the first installment of Scrappy Saturday. Each Saturday we will feature one of the quilts that Bonnie Hunter showed at her trunk show at the 2017 Spring Tea on March 11, 2017. Look forward to learning a little about the quilt.
The first quilt that she showed us was the backdrop for her presentation. It featured 1.5″, 2″, 2.5″, and 3.5″ strips. These are the sizes Bonnie Hunter uses the most. There is no specific pattern for this quilt. It is a “teaching” quilt. The blocks and letters are fused onto the quilt and then they were quilted into place. You can read more about this quilt on Bonnie’s blog, Quiltville Snips & Quips:
If you would like to learn how Bonnie cuts her fabric into usable strips so that she has more time to sew and less time to sort, iron, organize, and cut, on her website go to the Tips & Techniques tab at the top of the screen. Click on it. Scroll down until you get to “Scrap Users System”.
Christel did a great job explaining the Lovers Link challenge block for the challenge raffle quilts for the challenge quilt(s) that will be given away at the Spring Tea held on April 21, 2018. There was a packet at each place setting at the 2017 Spring Tea with (2) 4.5″ white blocks and instructions. You provide the 2.5″ scraps to make the challenge block(s). Don’t hesitate! Get your block(s) to Sue Burgess (address below). Make sure your name AND CITY is on a paper pinned to the back of the block.
8.5″ Square Block (finished size 8″ in the quilt)
Grab that scrap basket! Get to work!
These are the quilts that were shared during show and tell at the Bonnie Hunter workshop on March 10, 2017.

Bonnie Hunter was our teacher at the first workshop the Osnaburg Quilt and Fiber Art Guild ever hosted. She was so sweet and genuine. She taught us how to cut accurately and sew beautiful 1/4″ seams. Read the post on Bonnie’s blog post at:

Congrats, Christel, Louise, and Kathy on winning the challenge quilts. At the 2016 Spring Tea instructions and focus fabric were distributed. To enter to win, one needed to make a 12″ finished block using the focus fabric. Each block was an entry into the drawing. Winner also needed to be present at the 2017 Spring Tea.
Below is the 2017 Spring Tea raffle quilt. Tickets were sold. Congrats to the lucky winner!
